In this role, I edit highly technical documents to be sure that they meet exacting house standards, use proper English and grammar, and read easily even for people who are new to the subject matter.
While proofreading is an important part of this role, I do much more as well. I improve the structure of the article so that one thought flows smoothly to the next, I make sure that difficult concepts are explained clearly and thoroughly, and I do rewrites when necessary to improve readability. I also provide detailed feedback to encourage the writers and help them improve over time.
These copy edits require:
